Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health-care profession that focuses on the spine and other joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system. The word “chiropractic” means “to be done by hand.” Chiropractors use adjustments to restore joint function and support the nervous system. They help patients maintain optimal health while avoiding unnecessary drugs or surgery. An estimated 50 million Americans see a chiropractor each year.

Chiropractors are doctors who specializes in spinal health and well-being. They focus on the prevention, diagnosis and conservative care of spine-related disorders and other painful joint issues. In addition to adjustments, chiropractors also provide soft-tissue therapies and lifestyle recommendations.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts which is concerned with human health and disease processes. All of our doctors pay special attention to the physiological and biochemical aspects of the body including structural, spinal, musculoskeletal, neurological, emotional and environmental relationships.

The practice and procedures employed by Dr. Jason Levy, Dr. Michael Teytelbaum, Dr. Jennifer Kastner and Dr. Ian Barry are based on the academic and clinical training received in and through accredited chiropractic colleges. Such procedures specifically include the adjustment and manipulation of the articulations and adjacent tissues of the human body, particularly of the spinal column.
Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-surgical science and, as such, does not include pharmaceuticals or incisive surgery.
The benefits of chiropractic go far beyond relieving back and neck pain and can help people of all ages from infants to the elderly.

Non-Surgical Treatment for Foot Pain

Leneva Injection for Fat Pad Restoration in Feet

Non-Surgical Treatment for Foot Pain

Are the bottom of your feet sore when you walk? Do you feel like you are walking on pebbles? Are you worried that you won’t be able to wear your favorite pair of heels or sandals? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be suffering from a lack of padding under your heel or ball of your foot.

One of the most frequent complaints we hear from new patients is painful pressure points located on the weight-bearing surface at the forefoot. These pressure lesions can be caused by one or more of the following conditions: an abnormally positioned bone, toe deformities, or thinning of the fat pad cushioning the sole of the foot.

As you age, your body’s natural fat on the bottom of the foot is lost. This is called fat pad atrophy, and it is common in both men and women. The good news is there is help! Dr. Jessica Levy offers fat pad restoration at APRC in Short Hills. Fat pad restoration is a noninvasive foot treatment that restores the body’s natural cushioning to the bottom of the foot. The doctors use Leneva, an FDA approved, allograft adipose matrix derived from donated human tissue. It acts as a scaffolding for your own body’s tissue reconstruction. It is a safe and clinically proven solution to help with foot pain without steroid injections or surgery.

Graston Technique®

The Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. The Graston Technique®, originally developed by athletes, is changing the way clinicians — including athletic trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists, occupational therapists — and patients view treatment of acute and chronic soft tissue injuries.

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT) is a treatment modality based on a set of unique pressure waves that stimulate healing. The system delivers pneumatic pressure waves from outside the body to the area of discomfort. This promotes neovascularization, improves blood supply and increases cell proliferation, helping tissues to regenerate. The treatment triggers the body’s own repair mechanisms to initiate natural healing.

Spinal and Extremity Adjustments

A gentle force introduced into the spine or extremity, which unlocks jammed or fixated bones from their stuck position. This helps restore range of motion, improve blood flow, and facilitates nutritional transport to help prevent joint degeneration.

Functional Neurology

To put it simply, functional neurology is a way to address an imbalance in the person’s brain and nervous system. Since the brain controls all function of a person’s body, an imbalance in the brain will manifest itself in altered physiology and biology in the body. A functional neurologist addresses these issues by taking a comprehensive look at the total body function and checking which pathways are not working as well as they should be. Once an imbalance is identified, the functional neurologist stimulates the appropriate pathways to move the brain and body to a more balanced state. This is achieved by using noninvasive and safe therapies like specific chiropractic adjustments, exercises, modalities, sound therapy, etc. As a result, patients get relief from symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, ADD/ADHD, migraines, fibromyalgia, and obsessive compulsive disorder, amongst many others.

Functional Medicine Services

Functional medicine looks to address the underlying causes of disease through a comprehensive integrative approach. It is a patient centered approach that seeks to provide answers with possible interventions that may include diet, exercise, sleep, among others. The Standard American Diet (SAD) and sedentary lifestyle has led to many chronic diseases that are correctable if given the right tools. Functional medicine seeks to give you the answers to make you healthy and resilient. Dr. Teytelbaum seeks to bring back the innate health in all of us. Examples of conditions that can be better managed include: inability to lose or gain weight, IBS, constipation, chronic fatigue, hypo/hyper thyroidism, brain “fog”, autoimmune conditions, fibromyalgia, among others.
